REMIX S - Solo
Royal rhythm in red, gold and black
This work builds upon the refined heritage of Surakarta’s (SOLO) royal batik. The underlying textile, saturated in red, gold, and black, evokes a ceremonial intensity rooted in Javanese court tradition. The recurring garuda-like wings echo not only spiritual protection and sovereignty but also a pulsating rhythm - ketjik-ketjik-— a visual chant of symmetry and power.
Onto this historic surface, a constellation of coloured circles is placed. These vibrant interruptions — soft, playful, deliberate — shift the tone of the field. They loosen the rigidity of the royal code, offering moments of lightness and freedom within a structure of control. In this remix, the formal elegance of court tradition meets a contemporary gesture: bold and joyful, alive.
